About This Place

Located in the charming town of Rocky Harbour, NL, Earle's Restaurant offers a warm and inviting family dining experience that perfectly captures the essence of Newfoundland cuisine. This beloved eatery is renowned for its comforting, home-cooked meals that celebrate the rich local flavors through both traditional and inventive dishes.

At Earle’s, the menu reads like a culinary love letter to the region, with standout offerings such as the hearty Moose Meat Pizza, a unique twist on a classic that delivers bold, meaty richness with every bite. For seafood enthusiasts, their Fish and Chips shine with crispy, golden batter encasing tender, flaky fish — truly a taste of the ocean's freshest catch. The Moose Pie and Moose Burger with Fries bring robust game meat flavors that are both satisfying and unparalleled in their authenticity, while the traditional Jiggs Dinner provides a wholesome and comforting meal steeped in Newfoundland heritage.

Beyond these local favorites, Earle’s treats guests to succulent dishes like Scallops and Shrimps, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, and a luscious, creamy Seafood Chowder — the latter earning high praise from patrons like Marcel Lavoie, who called it “the best we have ever tasted!” The menu also caters wonderfully to those with dietary restrictions, as highlighted in Valerie Sheppard’s review; gluten-free variations, including a pan-fried cod option served with fries, ensure everyone can enjoy the robust flavors of the region.

Desserts at Earle’s are the perfect sweet finish to any meal, with homemade selections such as the tangy and light Lemon Meringue Pie and the uniquely local Cloud Berry and Partridge Berry Pie that bring the taste of Newfoundland's wild berries straight to your palate.

The atmosphere here is unpretentious and family-friendly, accentuated by attentive and friendly service that leaves guests feeling genuinely welcomed. Whether you’re seated with the family or enjoying a casual lunch, the staff’s warmth — from the charming Marsha to other friendly servers — creates a comfortable and relaxed setting perfect for savoring every bite.

Portion sizes are generous, with prices that make indulging in local specialties even more appealing, as noted by Livvy Star. Though occasionally busy, as Lee Stewart experienced during a short-staffed day, the kitchen is impressively efficient, delivering delicious meals like the highly recommended moose stew without long waits.

Whether you crave classic comfort food, fresh and flavorful seafood, or unique game meat specialties, Earle’s Restaurant is a culinary destination that offers a genuine taste of Newfoundland with a heartfelt touch. For visitors to Rocky Harbour seeking warm hospitality and meals that evoke the spirit of the land and sea, Earle’s is a must-visit spot you won’t regret.

This place hits every time. Home cooked faves, and friendly service. For the celiac peeps, they have many variations of simple favourites and they’re so good, I was so excited to see they had gf deep fried cod! I ended up getting pan fried cod with fries and it was simply the best. Always get the scrunchions.

It was a cold wet day Friday when we stopped in for lunch. The service was excellent! The young man who served us was very friendly. We arrived early and were the only guests there. I had a BLT really good! Lots of bacon. Lemon meringue pie was delicious. Homemade desserts.

The portion size was generous and the price was reasonable. The staff was lovely. The washroom was clean and stocked with soap. WiFi wasn't strong but worked better near the entrance.

They were short-staffed the day we were there but got our food relatively quickly. First time having moose stew. It was amazingly delicious. Highly recommend.

Fish and chips were delicious. The seafood chowder had good flavour but had multiple bones/scales? or some part of the animal in the soup. I poked my mouth 3 times while eating and then just decided I didn’t want it anymore. The soft serve ice cream in a sugar cone is a must!

I absolutely love this place, this was my second trip there and even though they didn’t have the moose meat pizza I was looking for the donair pizza I had was amazing and a great alternative. Staff are friendly and the selection of pies for dessert is wonderful and delicious so do your best to save room or take some to go and enjoy later Will definitely return there next summer when I go to Rocky Harbour and climb Gros Morne again

We spent an overnight in Rocky Harbour, and heard great things about Earles. We went there for lunch, and my partner ordered the fish, and I ordered the fried chicken. We then shared it, and boy, was it a treat!!! Excellent food, with excellent service to match! The girls working were so lovely and friendly. We enjoyed it so much we went back for takeout later! We ordered a Hawaiian pizza and a moose burger, again, to share. The pizza was some of the best Ive eaten. It had smokey ham, qualify cheese and an excellent crust. The moose burger was absolutely delicious. My only complaint was its price, which was 15 bucks, without a side. But that is my only minor complaint! Earles has it going on. The staff are running the place perfectly. I really cant wait to visit Rocky Harbour again just so I can eat there. :) 5 stars.
